Why I’m Running

I am running for State Representative to make your voice heard at the Capitol.

My platform is simple, I believe that the Declaration of Independence was correct over 245 years ago when it stated,” All men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.” Furthermore, the government was created to protect these rights.

I intend to uphold those truths in St. Paul and to remind every lawmaker that that is our responsibility to our communities and to our state. We must be accountable to the decisions we make so people can trust we are doing what is best for the community.

Meet Ryan

The west metro has always been my home; with my mom being a teacher in the Westonka School District and my dad being a small business owner, I learned the value of dedication and hard work. I grew up in Mound and transplanted to Bloomington after getting married, but we ultimately determined Eden Prairie was where we wanted to raise our children. The quality schools in the area, quick access to nature and trails, and a safe and friendly neighborhood all contributed to a high quality of life we were looking for.

When I graduated from the University of St. Thomas in 2007, I didn’t think I’d be going back to St. Paul. But if there is anything I’ve learned over the last two years, it’s that we need thoughtful leaders at the capitol making wise decisions because those decisions impact all of our lives.

I’ve spent over 15 years in the finance and accounting arena with small businesses and large corporations, most recently creating and managing budgets, providing input to business leaders, and holding cross-functional discussions across the organization. Results matter and selfish officials must be held accountable, which is why I will support the initiatives that positively impact our state while pushing back on frivolous spending.

I am so fortunate to have the support of my family in this journey. They inspire me to be a better father and leader, while reminding me that I’m not perfect and that I have more to learn. We enjoy visiting the local park, exploring the Edenbrook Conservation Area, or riding our bikes to the Glen Lake businesses. This community is our home, and I will fight to protect the high quality of life we all enjoy each day.


My top priorities are to safeguard our community from recent threats to our way of life and to protect our children’s futures. This requires a budget that is fiscally responsible and aligns with our needs. It is no small task and will require discussion and prioritization, but I have overcome many difficult situations throughout my years with great success. Now is the perfect time to expect better results from our elected leaders, so I hope you’ll give me the opportunity to represent you in St. Paul.


Schools are for learning and developing. Parents and guardians are the primary authority in their children’s development.


Trust is built on relationships. Our police departments must continue their efforts to gain our trust through community involvement. Likewise, the officers in our communities deserve our respect and support for the dedication and service they provide.


Small businesses in a free market are key to our economy. Over regulation is disrupting our local economy.
